April 2016

While in Arizona I found out that my cousin Jenny needed some help with her four girls. Her dad was getting remarried and treating his daughters to a cruise. Jenny was in the midst of a divorce and was struggling with her childcare options. My kids got along with her girls really well so I offered to have them. Poor Ben and James were greatly outnumbered. My kids were still in school so I would keep one of my girls home a day, to help entertain.

We picked a beautiful but hot day for the Tulip Festival. My parents met us there with my niece Kira, and their dog Teddy. James and Ben wisely chose to stay home.

Non-stop crafts

These two made fairy houses.

Ben bravely took the 5 oldest kids rock climbing.

Most nights ended like this, as many as could fit on my lap or as close by as possible. All-in-all it was a great but stressful 11 days. My kids were really good sports about my time and energy being spent on these extra girls. Ben was a really good sport about the noise level and mess that four extra kids brings. It meant a lot to me that my cousin entrusted us with her darling girls.

Finished off the month with the school's crazy hair/Fun Run.

These boys have been together since Kindergarten!
