Yes, I have 4 kids

So there are certain things that are off limits to me - I won't take the time to list them all - but a big one for the kids is no messing with my bed once it's been made. I can't even tell you have many times I've had to tell my darling children to quit throwing the pillows or to quit hiding under the blanket or to just stay off the bed in general. I don't know why it's such a huge deal to me, it really shouldn't be, but I also don't understand why I have to keep having this fight.

Until I saw this:

Ben had been upstairs with the 2 oldest while I was with Brie. I heard a huge commotion but didn't have a chance to investigate until later. I was about to chastise James for disobeying me once again when I thought I should wait and ask Ben about it when he got home from Scouts. Ben, being the awesome teaching parent that he his, had noticed James jumping over his own pillow and decided to up the ante and give him more of a challenge. James was so proud that he could jump across almost every pillow we own.

For some reason, the kids love our bed. When Ben gets home from work he takes turns throwing the kids on the pillows - it's something they look forward to. James and Avery think it's fun to bring their pillows and blankets in and "play" nap-time and James thinks it's the greatest treat when Ben goes out of town and he gets to sleep in the big bed. It's one of their favorite places to be.

I realized that I need to get over my OCD and let the kids be kids, and that includes destroying my perfectly made bed.

I am so with you on that. It's not my bed, but I have other things that I just can't take being messed up. And sometimes I realize I just need to let go and let them be kids. And other times I lose my mind cleaning up those same messes yet again!
