Awhile back my parents decided they needed a new hobby and thought that sailing would be the most fun for both of them. They went through hours upon hours of training, agonized over what kind of sailboat they wanted and where they wanted to moor it. I personally had never been sailing before but quickly grew to love it. What's even better is how much the kids love it, especially James. He thought it was a pirate ship the first time we went out.
The other night we went for a sail and my dad let me take the helm. It probably wasn't the best idea since the wind was up to almost 20 knots and this was really only the third time I'd been at the helm but I was up for the challenge. Everything was going great until we hit a sudden burst of wind and I lost control of the boat. We did a complete 360 and I had never seen the boat tip this far before. My dad had to keep telling me that there was no way the boat would tip over. Bethany and her two kids were in the cabin along with my mom and my two kids. I could hear stuff crashing around and thought for sure that the kids would be completely freaked out. When I had control enough to check on them they weren't even fazed. They were all watching a movie like nothing ever happened. I love that they are all completely comfortable and at home on the boat, it makes things a lot more fun for all of us!
Later as we were walking back to the car James told me his favorite part of the sail was all the bumps we went over. He then asked me not to go as fast next time, but in his next breath said, "actually I like it when you go fast." He truly is my son.

A 360! Holy smokes! I'm glad it's a good boat and didn't tip.
