Oaks Park

We had plans with some friends to spend a day at the coast. The only day that worked happened to be Briella's birthday, which she was totally fine with. We decided to spend the day before that at Oaks Park. The kids had reading passes that needed to be used and it's one of Briella's favorite places. It wasn't crowded and we pretty much had all the rides to ourselves. We were having a blast until it started downpouring. The kids didn't want to leave so we braved the rain. The girls happened to be on the ferris wheel at the time and were not happy to be stopped at the top, in the rain though.

Avery braved the Screaming Eagle with me.

After skating until the park closed, we headed home. It was late and everyone was tired. We had driven all of 1 mile when we (Ben) hit a cement median and wrecked the front tire. Thankfully nobody was hurt but we were stuck on the side of the road, at a really busy on ramp. It was going to take awhile for the tow truck to show up so Ben set out some flares and we called a friend to come get the kids and I. I was really upset because I thought our plans for the next day were off and instead of being at the coast, we would be spending the day dealing with insurance and auto body shops and getting a rental car. Luckily Ben got up early the next morning, got our rental car arranged and had it all packed and ready to go before 10 am. He totally made up for wrecking it in the first place :) Plus, we got to drive a totally tricked out Suburban for a month while the van got fixed.
