Ben and I had taken a weekend personal development course that had to do with erasing the personal limitations you put on yourself and recognizing your full potential. We both benefited from it so much that when we heard they had a course for children we immediately signed James and Avery up (Briella was too young).
The course would take place in Seattle so we planned a trip! It just so happened that the Red Sox would be playing the Mariners two days before the course started. I went up with my parents and James so we could go to the game with the Jon and Betsy.
We took the ferry over from Bremerton and then walked to Safeco Field. It was a trek and the boys were troopers! As you can tell, they were super excited to be together.
I so wish we lived closer to these boys. They love each other so much and it just makes my heart hurt when we have to leave.
I love that these boys love baseball. They were totally into it. Or they just loved being there because of all the junk food!
The next day we headed over to the darling town of Poulsbo. I'm still dreaming about that bakery! We walked around with our goodies, climbed on some stuff and then headed to Tacoma to meet up with Ben.
Since Briella wasn't doing the course, my parents took her home for the weekend and the rest of us headed to our hotel.
The course went from 9 am - 5 pm, with a couple parents sessions here and there. We would drop the kids off in the morning and then go explore Seattle. My cousin Jenny had signed her daughter Hailey up for this course as well so we got to spend lots of time with her. Avery and Hailey hit it off like crazy. It was liking seeing her and Mackayla together.
They were seriously hilarious together. At one point, they were singing a song they had learned in their course, as loud as they could, while walking through downtown Seattle.
Some of the highlights for me - finding the most darling shopping center that we spent hours just wandering around. Being brave enough to cross the Seattle Pride parade because it was the only way to get to the doughnuts at Pike's Place, and I desperately needed those doughnuts. Feeling validated as a mom by finding the perfect pina colada cupcake for Avery. On the drive we realized that Avery never ate the pina colada cupcakes I had made for her birthday party. She was too full at the time and had saved it, but it had gotten stale. Reconnecting with my cousin Jenny and spending time with her kids. The kids all got along so well and spending time with them made me wish they lived closer. Getting to have so many great conversations with James and Avery. They are at such a fun age where we just love being with them. They add so much to our lives and have the most amazing things to share with us. Seeing their confidence blossom was huge.
Of course it was wonderful to come home to Briella, we had missed her like crazy but I don't think she missed us at all. She was too busy being spoiled rotten by my parents.
