When my friend Michelle and I learned
that the King Tut exhibit would be coming to Seattle, we knew it was
something our boys would love to go to. We got a mad hook up at the
Residennce Inn in Bellevue and made a weekend out of it. The kids loved
staying in the hotel, naturally, and slept really well. The hotel had a
Kinect in one it's conference/lounge rooms and it entertained them for
quite some time.
While
the husbands and older boys toured the King Tut exhibit, Michelle and I
hung around the Pacific Science Center with the younger kids. They all
wanted to go to the butterfly house, and despite knowing my girls, we
went. Avery and Briella have acquired a new phobia of anything that
flys/crawls. If Briella is in the same room as a spider, fly, ant, etc.
she will scream bloody murder. Avery can't fall asleep if she sees a
shadow on the ceiling that may be a bug. But they love looking at
butterflies so I thought it might be ok. They were terrified that
something was going to land on them the minute we stepped in. Briella
was on constant look out for incoming insects so the few times I tried
to get a picture of them didn't go too well.

| Back inside and safe |
After the
butterfly debacle we wandered around all the safely contained bugs
(while I tried really hard not to walk past the giant animitronic
praying mantis) and then headed outside to let the kids blow bubbles.
The boys had a blast seeing the King Tut exhibit.
The museum had tons of other fun things to do as well. This was a two-way mirror that had us all cracking up!
After
we left the museum we wandered around the Space Needle and then headed
to the fountain. We weren't planning on this but the kids had a blast
and didn't get completely soaked.
The
next day we went to the Children's Museum by the Space Needle. While we
were there we discovered that our good friends from Arizona were just
upstairs! They were on their way to see family in Washington and were
killing a couple hours. Our two oldest kids were born just a few months
apart and spent a lot of time together when we lived in Utah. It's
amazing how much has changed in 8 years!
We took the tram to downtown and tried to find a good place for dinner, that was an adventure! After dinner we headed back home. It was such a great weekend with wonderful friends.
