Surprise trip

There are two places my kids ask to go to on a weekly basis.

Disneyland and Great Wolf Lodge.

We'll get to Disneyland one of these days, but in the mean time we'd been keeping our eyes out for good deals to Great Wolf. A couple of months ago a good deal came up and we jumped on it.

We didn't tell the kids about it. The morning of the trip they opened up the advent calendar to find a note that said "we're going on a trip!" We told them that as soon as they packed their bags we would go. (I had already packed all their swim stuff the night before.) It was the cutest thing ever, watching them pack, reminding each other about their toothbrushes, etc. Avery packed new earrings, her lipgloss, her new Tangled book and My Little Pony puzzle book (on top of her clothes of course). James was more practical and only packed the essentials.

Of course they were questioning us non-stop on where we were going. I told them that whoever guessed right would get a special prize. That led to even MORE guesses, We got everything from the North Pole, Texas, College, Egypt, Pixie's Hollow and Nanna's. Needless to say, neither one of them guessed right.

They went crazy when they finally saw the hotel from the freeway. They screamed when they saw that their best friends were there as well (we had all booked together but kept it a secret from the kids).

All I can say is that the brief two days we were there were exactly what the doctor ordered. We had such a fun time as a family and with our dear friends. Of course it was crazy, but well worth it.

The Gang

They have this game there where you get a wand and go on these quests, solving clues throughout the hotel. The kids LOVED it, especially when James had to "battle" a dragon at the end.
The only problem is they're already wanting to go back!

WOW!! What a terrific family Christmas present! And right before driving all the way to Utah, as well. I remember going there with you guys on a recent trip, and it was totally FUN!!

(The reason I didn't comment on your posts earlier was that I was away from my Google-reader in Utah. Fabulous visiting with you there!)
