I can't believe it, but my baby boy turned 7! Not only that, he managed to lose his two front teeth a couple weeks ago so he looks older too! Each year is harder and harder for me. He's growing up way too fast.
We spent his birthday as a family. Ben took him out to lunch at this favorite place and then my family came over for cupcakes and presents. There seems to be a running joke when it comes to presents for James. My brother-in-law knows how much I hate praying mantises and yet he still manages to get him something to do with praying mantises every year! Here the kids are watching for my reaction to the newest gift.
One of these years I'll get him back.
James has grown up so much, it's amazing how much he's changed in a year.
* He's a whistling pro...way better than me and almost as good as Ben.
* He can read anything and so fast too! He's still going strong with Harry Potter.
* He LOVES science.
* He's quite the Lego master.
* He's a really good artist.
Each year I videotape the kids answering certain questions. I hadn't quite got around to it with James so I figured I would put it here.

That is just the CUTEST post!! I adore James! He is so utterly smart, cheerful, good-natured, inquisitive and sweet (even if he has been known to tease a sister on rare occasions.)
Yeah, with a brain like his I can see him growing up to become a break dancer. Maybe during lunch breaks at Jet Propulsion Laboratory, lulls in his rounds at Mayo Clinic, or between science-fiction-level inventions.
"Be a break dancer" has got to be the most original future career answer EVER!!! I laughed two or three times over that answer!
Aw, you're the best mom ever for just letting him play angry birds on your phone ;)
