Ben has been a bit jealous about the Irish blood in my family so celebrating St. Patrick's Day was never a huge deal for him. In fact, he tried to suggest skipping it one year - an idea that he quickly rescinded. That all changed this year. While doing his genealogy he found a distant relative that came from Ireland. I cannot even tell you how excited he was. Suffice to say he's all for celebrating it now!
In the years past I've just gotten gold chocolate coins and left a trail of them from the front door to the table and then had a "pot of gold" left for the kids. Last year I though it would be fun to also include various green candies.
After specific instructions from James for the leprechaun regarding the types of candy preferred I had to run to the store late last night.
I may or may not have bought too much and I may or may not have let them eat as much as they could this morning for breakfast.
Behold the carnage.
Happy St. Patricks's Day!

Do you think Ben could find out if I have any Irish relatives?
If Ben has Irish ancestors, maybe his mother does too, in which case she would like a good reason to have half a pound of chocolate for breakfast. However, the Irish may be on his father's side, in which case, bummer! She will have to eat the chocolate for breakfast to console herself for NOT having Irish ancestors.
What cute kids!
Holy smokes! Happy St. Paddy's day indeed!
Nicki, I've lost the address to your website that has all your million family photos on it. Could you give it to me again?

That's so cute! We didn't do anything for St.Patrick's day except wear green. My neighbor said she made green eggs and green milk for her kids, and I was totally envious and wish I had done it. Next year. Next year I'll make green food AND steal your gold coins idea!
The leprechauns don't visit our house. Except to leave a huge mess in the kitchen. Oh wait, that was me.
