Snow days!

We woke up Sunday morning to snow that was not only sticking, but falling continually. The kids were naturally excited. Avery was a little baby the last time it snowed like this so it was a totally new experience for her. Now the funny thing about snow in Oregon is that people freak out, seriously. Our church was cancelled to start off, and all the news stations were running non-stop weather reports. Our lovely state does not employ full-time snow plows, there's rarely the need, so most streets go un-plowed.

We got the kids all bundled up and they practically ran out the door. I stayed in the nice warm house under the pretense that somebody HAD to stay with Briella, even though she was fast asleep. Honestly though, I'm not a huge snow fan. I like sledding, if it's a major hill, but that's about it. I don't see the point in getting all cold to lob some snowballs, make snow angels, or even a snowman. That's what Ben is for.

The kids were out there for awhile, joined by Bethany, Ben and Mackayla. I once again used babies as an excuse to miss all the "fun" and kept Hunter with me. Once their little noses could handle the cold no longer they all traipsed back in, depositing wet clothing on the way to their sippy cups of hot chocolate. We watched a Christmas movie, attempted to get them to take a nap, then they went out again until it got dark.

The good thing about all the snow is that it is now Thursday and it's still here! The entire state is pretty much shut down. The schools have been closed all week, as well as some businesses. Ben's worked about two hours this week, we've watched a lot of movies, made sugar cookies, counted Christmas and birthday presents and pretty much just laid around. It's supposed to storm into the weekend. I'm just glad all my Christmas shopping is done and that we're within walking distance to a grocery store.

Maybe we'll have an actual white Christmas this year!

Wow! I've never seen so much snow in Oregon or heard of it lasting for so long. How fun for the kids! We've gotten your storm now, and it has snowed a ton here too. But not as strange.

WOW!!!! How fun!!! The only bit of snow we got here in Austin barely covered the ground, but it was still so cool. :)
