James just completed his first full day as a first grader. He was so excited to leave this morning he almost forgot to kiss me goodbye! His favorite part? Having two recesses, of course. He was bummed that they didn't get to study science today but I told him there will plenty of time for that!
Being the organizing freak that I am, I was excited to pack his lunch in his new multi-compartmented (I think I just made that word up) lunch kit. Imagine my surprise when it came home almost full. I don't know why he didn't eat more, maybe the excitement got to him, but for reals, the poor kid is skinny enough as it is!
I don't know what I'm going to do without my buddy every afternoon. The girls still take good naps so now it's going to be just me hanging out, counting the minutes until I can go pick him up.

All that kid needs to look more like Harry Potter is a pair of glasses. Except that he has a 1000 watt grin like his Daddy-O, and Harry doesn't have that!
What an amazing, gorgeous, precious boy! LOVE HIM!
My oldest grandchild, Nora, is also in first grade. She came home the other day and told her mom that she held hands under the desk with the boy that sits next to her. Got to love those first graders!
