Hawaii - the conclusion

We were going to be staying our last two nights on the island in Lahaina. Ben HAD to stop at the Sugar Museum on the way - it was informative though - I had no idea how they harvested the sugar!

On the drive we spotted a splash out in the ocean, pulled over and got to see a baby whale! It would jump out every once in awhile. At one point we saw something else in the water - I don't know if it was another baby or the mom.

This was the view we had from our hotel room.

The news said that the shore we were on was expecting huge swells so Ben wanted to try out boogie boarding. After stopping and watching a number of locals ride the waves he was ready. I
got to sit and watch - it was really windy.

It took him a couple tries but he got the hang of it in the end! It was fun watching him.

I had heard that Lahaina was a great shopping town but good grief. It was a REALLY good thing we were only there two days. I don't even want to know the damage I could have done if we had stayed longer. On our last night Ben was awesome enough to let me have an entire night of shopping, and he didn't complain once!

This was just funny - the parking garage of our hotel had the smallest ceiling. Ben couldn't even stand up all the way in some spots!

It was an awesome vacation. We knew that our kids were very well taken care of, thanks to our family and bestest friends. We're already planning the next one!

our best list -

*Best breakfast - Charley's in Paia. I had the pineapple, coconut french toast and Ben had a bacon, avocado, pepper loaded omelette croissant sandwich.

*Best burger - Cool Cat Cafe in Lahaina. It's this cute 50's style diner. We split the bacon, avocado burger and it was the best I've ever had.

*Best BBQ - We happened to stop at this hole in the wall place in Napili called Mama's Ribs and Rotisserie. Ben had been craving pulled pork and he said it was the best he's ever had.

*Best dinner ambiance - Cheeseburger in Paradise in Lahaina. They have live music every night.

*Best dessert - Stella Blue's in Kihei. We had the Bananas Foster. I've never had it before and it was SO good.

*Best mexican - Amigos in Kahului. We even got to enjoy a live concert in the parking lot!

*Best place to get food poisoning - The Tasty Crust in Kahului. Just stay away, trust me.

*Best snorkeling - Makena Beach by the Maui Prince Hotel

*Best decorated bathroom - Moose McGillycuddy's in Kihei. I didn't see it - you'll have to ask Ben about this one.

*Best place for karaoke - The Maui Mall on Friday nights. It was a hopping place :)

* Best shopping - Front Street in Lahaina

Whales! Seriously?! So jealous!!

I like your list of bests. It makes me want to go back and visit them (except for the food poisoning place of course).

Looks like a fantastic trip. You got some color, didn't you! I'm super jealous that you saw a whale.
